Feather Fantasy!

The Spring 2011 runways are full of feathers. Chanel and McQueen have both jumped on this feather frenzy bandwagon including so many of our favorite starlets! "Celebs are achieving heavy glamour with lightweight feather headbands," says Life & Style magazine.
So why not carry this trend over into your big day?! Whether subtle or not, try to incorporate this seemingly effortless 40's and 50's glamour trend. There are so many clever ways to add that edgy glam feather touch to your big day. We love the idea of accenting your bridal bouquet or your reception decor (our latest event at The Petal Company actually did just that by incorporating feathers into all of the personal flowers.) Or add some va-va-voom to your ensamble with a gorgeous hairpiece.
Here are some of our other ideas to help you achieve that vintage feather feel...

{Livermore Valley Wine Country Photo Shoot}

I was so excited at the possibility to showcase my flowers and decor alongside so many amazing vendors. This shoot allowed all of us to show our creative side, with no boundaries and the skies the limit, this shoot was such a pleasure to partake in! It's an absolute must that I share some information about the shoot as well as some of my favorite photos. This photo shoot was originally supposed to be outdoors at the home of one of the vendors friends in Los Gatos. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating and it was snowing there on the day of our shoot, not the ideal situation for the linens, food, and decor. Luckily, I remembered hearing about this fantastic winery in Livermore, the Crooked Vine Winery, and decided to give them a call. Thankfully they did not have an event going on that day and they were able to give us their gorgeous barrel room as well as free reign outdoors to shoot our models. The location couldn't have been more amazing and their wines are delicious to boot, if you need a wedding/event venue or simply want to wine taste check this place out!
Not only did our venue turn out better than I expected but our other vendors brought their "A" game as well. Napa Valley Linens provided the table linens and caps as well as the napkins. These are not your average linens from your normal party rental company. The linens in their collection are sourced from the finest fabrics around the world. They instantly add that extra touch and can change a drab venue to a fab venue, just can't say enough about them!
Rachel Hanson Designs was responsible for the place cards, menu cards, invitations, and bride and groom signs. Her work is amazing. I only provided her with the color scheme and a few buzzwords to describe the theme of our shoot and she took that and nailed it! Her designs couldn't have been more perfect. For all your stationary needs look no further than Rachel Hanson Designs!
I love food and unfortunately some events do not deliver when it comes to the food. However, I have a solution to your catering problems... just contact Luisa's Catering. Not only did her food taste amazing but it even matched our theme! Tuna tartare in sesame miso cones, strawberries with marscarpone-honey-rosemary cream with crispy bacon, mini asian crab cakes with wasabi aioli and pickled ginger, and raspberry macaroons... need I say more? Let your stomach do the talking and contact her today for all your catering needs!
Lori Munar provided the spectacular cake and delicious cupcakes. The design on the cake matched the table linen cap exactly. Her design was truly breathtaking and equally scrumptious!
It was so exciting to see all the different vendors come together, combine our individual talents and see the stunning final product. Thankfully we had a fabulous photographer to capture all of our hard work so that we could share our themed photo shoot with everyone. A Girl and a Camera Photography did a fabulous job capturing the rustic and romantic feel of our vintage bird cage wedding shoot. Hope that you love the outcome as much as we do and don't forget to check out all the vendors!
